ATTC Summer League – Week 5 Recap

Week 5 of the ATTC Summer League featured a dominant undefeated run, several close three-game battles, and plenty of movement throughout the standings.

Rocky Lee was the clear headliner, turning in a perfect 4-0 performance to take first place. Rocky opened with a straight-games victory over Durrell Willey before being pushed to three games by Kendall Swartzentruber. He then defeated Morris Beiler in a matchup between the night’s remaining unbeaten players and closed the evening with a convincing win over Jonathan Sears. Rocky finished with eight set wins and an impressive +31 point differential.

Morris Beiler also enjoyed a strong night, finishing 3-1 and taking second place. Morris began with a straight-games win over Cliff Breazeale and followed it with a hard-fought three-game victory over Jonathan. His only loss came against Rocky in Round 3, but he responded by defeating Arlan Riehl in the final round.

The battle for third place came down to Kendall Swartzentruber and Jonathan Sears, who both finished 2-2. Their head-to-head matchup in Round 3 went the distance, with Jonathan defeating Kendall 2-1. However, Kendall earned third place in the nightly standings after victories over Cory Wilson and Durrell Willey.

Jonathan faced one of the most difficult paths of the night. He opened with a three-game victory over Nate Wilson, lost a tight match to Morris, defeated Kendall in another three-game contest, and then finished against undefeated Rocky. His strong schedule was reflected in a night-high 11.5 Buchholz score.

There was competitive action throughout the rest of the field as well. Nate Wilson defeated Cliff in three games, while Arlan Riehl earned a straight-games win over Nate. Durrell Willey picked up a victory over Cory, and Cory answered in Round 3 with a three-game win over Arlan. Cliff Breazeale finished the night on a high note, defeating Cory 2-1 in the final round.

Week 5 belonged to Rocky, but the matches behind him showed just how competitive the ATTC field remains. Morris continues to stay close to the top, while Kendall and Jonathan remain firmly in the mix as the Summer League enters its final stretch.
