The 2026 ATTC Summer League officially kicked off Tuesday night, and Week 1 delivered exactly what everyone hoped for — intense rallies, close matches, breakout performances, and enough competitive energy to make it clear this season is going to be a battle from start to finish.
It also delivered one unexpected challenge. The lighting conditions may have turned the room into “dark mode,” but the players still brought the heat. Thankfully, brighter days are ahead for Week 2.
Even with the dim atmosphere, the level of play absolutely shined.
Twelve players entered the opening night of Swiss-style competition knowing every match would matter in the race for the Summer League championship. By the end of four intense rounds, one player stood alone at the top.
Rocky Lee came into Week 1 ready to make a statement.
Lee stormed through the field with a flawless 4-0 record, taking down opponent after opponent while posting a staggering +45 point differential — the best mark of the night by a wide margin. Rocky opened the evening with a commanding win over Kendall Swartzentruber before defeating Cory Wilson in Round 2. From there, the momentum only grew stronger as Lee defeated Morris Beiler in a key Round 4 showdown to secure the top spot outright.
While Rocky claimed the top position, the battle behind him was fierce all night long.
Veteran competitor Morris Beiler once again showed why he remains one of the toughest outs in the club. After opening with wins over Nate Wilson and Ike Dickey, Morris found himself in several high-pressure matches throughout the evening. His Round 3 victory over Jonathan Sears helped set up a dramatic final-round clash with Rocky Lee that carried major leaderboard implications. Morris finished the night at 3-1 and sits firmly in the title hunt heading into Week 2.
Jonathan Sears also turned in one of the strongest performances of the night. Sears looked sharp early, defeating Cliff Breazeale and Ben Little in convincing fashion before suffering a tough loss to Morris Beiler in Round 3. Instead of fading, Sears responded with one of the biggest wins of the evening — a hard-fought Round 4 victory over Kendall Swartzentruber that pushed him to 3-1 and third place overall.
Cory Wilson quietly put together an excellent night as well. Wilson opened with a win over Emma Sears and bounced back after a Round 2 loss to Rocky Lee with strong victories over Cliff Breazeale and Eric Hudgens. By the end of the night, Wilson had climbed to fourth place with a 3-1 record and a strong +24 point differential.
One of the most dangerous players of the evening may have been Kendall Swartzentruber. Despite finishing 2-2, Kendall posted an eye-popping +39 point differential — second only to Rocky Lee. Kendall dominated Nate Wilson and Ike Dickey before battling Jonathan Sears in a pivotal Round 4 matchup that could easily become a preview of future marquee matches later this season.
The middle of the standings quickly became a war zone.
Eric Hudgens battled his way to a solid 2-2 finish with wins over Emma Sears and Jonathan Bauman, while Ike Dickey picked up an impressive opening-round victory and showed flashes throughout the night. Jonathan Bauman, Ben Little, Cliff Breazeale, and Nate Wilson all picked up wins and kept matches competitive from start to finish.
Even the newest faces and lower-ranked players forced tough rallies and long points throughout the night, proving there will be very few easy matches anywhere in the standings this summer.
Week 1 also marked the debut of ATTC’s new live scoreboard and leaderboard system. Players and spectators were able to follow standings, point differential, and match progress live throughout the evening, adding a tournament atmosphere that elevated the energy in the room all night long.
And if opening night was any indication, the 2026 Summer League may become the deepest and most competitive season ATTC has ever hosted.
With six league nights still remaining, nobody is out of the race yet. One hot streak can change everything in Swiss play, and several players already look capable of making a serious run at the top spot.
Week 2 cannot come soon enough — and hopefully everyone will be able to see the ball a little better next time.
