Summer 2025 League
Welcome to our Swiss-style table tennis league, where players compete weekly in a structured, skill-matched format—and every set and match counts!
This format combines the dynamic matchmaking of a Swiss tournament with the ongoing structure of a league, offering weekly play, evolving rankings, and plenty of chances to climb the leaderboard!
🏓 How It Works
- The league runs across 8 weeks.
- Your top 5 weekly score will be your season total, so you can miss 3 week and still be in the hunt for the title.
- Each night, players are paired using the Swiss system, facing opponents with similar point totals.
- All matches are best 2 out of 3 sets.
- Points are accumulated weekly and added to your season total.
🧮 Scoring System
Every week, players earn points based on both match results and individual set wins:
- ✅ Match Win: 1 point
- 🏅 Set Win: 0.5 points per set
- Even if you lose the match, winning a set still earns points.
- Even if you lose the match, winning a set still earns points.
Example:
- Player A beats Player B 2–1.
- Player A earns: 1 (match win) + 1.0 (2 sets) = 2.0 points
- Player B earns: 0 (no match win) + 0.5 (1 set) = 0.5 points
- Player A earns: 1 (match win) + 1.0 (2 sets) = 2.0 points
These points are added to each player’s season total, which builds week to week.
📈 League Standings & Progression
- League standings are based on total accumulated points.
- New pairings each week are determined by current point totals, ensuring fair and competitive matchups.
- Every player participates each week—no eliminations!
🏆 Tie-Breakers at Season End
If two or more players are tied in total points, the following tie-breakers are used in order:
- Head-to-Head Result – If tied players have played each other, the winner of that match ranks higher.
- Strength of Opponents – Sum of all opponents’ match points (also known as Buchholz score).
- Points Differential – Total points scored minus points conceded across all matches.
